Kian Boon Lim is a passionate technical leader and engineering manager with over 15 years of experience. He has successfully led, created, and grown high-performance AI-driven Sense-making & Surveillance, Video Analytics, and Data Engineering teams at HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Agency), GovTech (Government Technology Agency), and the Ministry of Home Affairs. His work has driven transformation and cloud adoption, executed and deployed central AI-driven Sense-making, Video Analytics, and Data Engineering solutions at scale, and developed and built data-driven products and Whole-of-Government (WOG) platforms both on the cloud and on-premises. Currently, Kian Boon serves as the Chief Data Officer and Deputy Chief AI Officer at HTX. He leads the Enterprise Data and Data Science & AI Centre of Expertise, as well as the newly established AI Central. In short, he is the guardian of data and an evangelist of AI. Kian Boon collaborates closely with Home Team Departments, including the Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority and the Singapore Prison Service. His mission is to enable and empower these departments to leverage AI to enhance their capabilities. By integrating these technologies with the front-line, he creates a force multiplier that enables the front-line to safeguard homeland and border security more effectively.
