Marina Bay Sands Expo Hall Packed with People, as CloserStill Media marks end of Big Data & AI World 2022
The Marina Bay Sands exhibition floors and conference theatres were full of thousands of technology leaders and buyers at Tech Week Singapore, Asia’s most important business technology event.
Singapore, 14 October 2022 – CloserStill Media marked the close of Tech Week Singapore, including co-located events Big Data & AI World, Cloud Expo Asia, Cyber Security World, Data Centre World Asia, DevOps Live, eCommerce Expo Asia and Technology for Marketing.
Amongst the thousands in attendance were technology buyers and influencers representing brands such as Atome, BeyondTrust, Charles Keith, Grab, IBM, Lazada, Lululemon, Meta, Singapore Airlines, Seagate, Singapore Post, Shopify, Zoho, and more.
With the insatiable appetite for learning and collaboration in Asia’s tech community, Tech Week Singapore emanated across two floors at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre. The conference programme was stacked with more than 15 theatres, featuring over 300 insightful sessions.
“After a two-year hiatus, Tech Week Singapore and its co-located events is back at Marina Bay Sands! So many new and familiar faces have joined us over the last two days. There have not been too many large-scale trade shows in Asia since the pandemic, so one common theme I am hearing is that visitors did not expect the magnitude of the event and electric atmosphere,” said Andy Kiwanuka, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at CloserStill Media.
Following a successful first day, day two was highlighted by keynotes presented by Amitoj Sawhney, Head of Products and Solutions for Regional Southeast Asia and Global Clients at Visa; Co-Founder of Groupon Singapore, Chris Chong; Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google Cloud, Brigitta Ratih Aryanti; and Head of Sustainability Strategy Policy for APJ at AWS, Genevieve Ding.
Amitoj discussed the future of digital commerce after a new paradigm and shopping behaviours were formed during the pandemic.
Chris shared his inspiring story on how he dropped out of university, moved to Singapore, set up Beeconomic, and turned it into an eight-figure buyout within six months.
Finally, Brigitta and Genevieve joined a panel session hosted by Equinix on how harnessing cloud technologies can enable more sustainable practices by enterprises.
“I’m very excited now that events like these are opening up again. We get to have first-hand experience interacting with the technology experts and it’s fun to discuss with the technical minds who have such a platform to share their knowledge and solutions,” said Santhosh Rajendra Rao, Regional Manager at Epson Singapore.
New features at Tech Week Singapore were also launched this year, including She Loves Data Live! covering the critical topic of diversity and in the workplace and data inclusivity through CV clinics and empowering talks.
Meta’s Metaverse was also on display at Meta Live VR where visitors could virtually see, touch and feel the game-changing opportunities businesses can harness.
Visitors also had the chance to take a tour inside the beating heart of the digital economy at the Live Data Centre feature. The real, functioning data centre was built in 48 hours, featuring the latest in green and sustainable technology.
“Keep an eye on sustainability. Sustainability is not a trend, it’s not a fad. It’s here to stay. If you drive purpose and lead with purpose, good things will come. I’m excited about the as-a-service model – it is the ultimate sustainability model. It enables users to cut out waste and only get what they need,” said Claudia Contreras-Gomez, Executive Director for Global Sustainability Services at Lenovo.
To help visitors find their next idea to reach their business goals and source innovative solutions, almost 500 leading brands exhibited at Tech Week Singapore, including Adobe, Digital Realty, China Telecom, CircleCI, Cohesity, Eaton, Equinix, GitLab, Lenovo, OVHcloud, Seagate Technology, Tencent Cloud, ThreatLocker, The UK Department for International Trade, and much more.
“Cloud Expo Asia is the best place for us to increase the awareness of our products because this is the largest Cloud Expo outside of the USA. This is the perfect event to enter the Singapore and APJ markets,” said Rose Hiu, Vice President Global Marketing and PR at Seagate Technology.
Tech Week Singapore and its co-located events will return to the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre next year on 11-12 October 2023.
